Good to know. Wasn't aware of that law.

We are all guilty until proven innocent, as per usual with WDFW, unless you actually poach or trespass, then you're fine.....   :bash:

You just need to carry the hunting license that you purchased prior to the deer transport tag.

I'm unaware of any caliber restrictions for hunting coyotes during modern deer season.

It says in the regs, if hunting yotes during modern deer or elk season,  you have to have a valid deer elk bear coug moose bighorn or goat tag to use a 6mm or bigger.  Its in there.

Good catch!   So if a person has a deer tag (now filled) and no other tags for any other large game then they must use a caliber less than .24 in diameter.   I always have a bear or cougar tag in my pocket so this has never affected me.

These pre-emptive laws need to go...they don't help catch poachers and they unnecessarily restrict lawful hunters.

I am thinking you still need to be wearing orange, if it's during modern deer or elk.

Yes.

So, how is the coyote hunting while wearing orange? I hunt coyotes and blacktails but haven't seen/shot coyotes while wearing orange. Some things I read say it's a waste of time to hunt coyotes wearing orange, that they will bust you everytime. Heck, they bust me sometimes when I am in full camo!

We saw about as many as ever.   G.S.   saw a ton of them.    He was tagged out and wanting to send some dogs down.....

I am not any sort of coyote hunter, but I've had two separate yotes walk within 50 yards while I was in full orange, imitating a blaze stump.  Lincoln unit.  Easy pickins if I was interested in shooting a dog.  I don't know what they would have done if I had been calling, etc., but the orange didn't seem to draw their attention.

We see yotes while deer hunting in orange.......And some we can shoot.
I'm sure you'd be better off in camo, but I'd hutn them in orange if I was tagged out.

And yes, I'd wear orange while out there, even if I was just along for a walk.......   I just don't trust some overeager folks.
