The dunes in potholes are starting to freeze up. The main body of the reservoir doesnt freeze up until late December typically. The boat launches freeze up earlier so launching can be a challenge.

I'm planning on heading over this weekend to hunt the quality hunt cut cornfields. Anyone have an idea with the cold if birds tend to feed more during the whole day or mornings/afternoons in particular? Any suggestions? Also have 1 more spot available both days if anyone would like to join...PM me details

We will be bringing both duck and goose decoys.

Hunted Scootney today.  Areas that are protected from the wind are freezing up.  Water felt very cold.  We saw zero bird traffic.  I'm worried the full moon, high winds, and snow covering the fields is causing the birds to move on.
Empty skies are depressing. Unless we get a break in the weather, expect everything to get even worse.

Gents,
Last post was 5 days back. How's it looking over at the Potholes? Trying to squeeze another trip over with my son before its done froze solid. Any updates on the water conditions, and flights would be greatly appreciated.

My boss was goose hunting this weekend in a corn field somewhere near Moses Lake and said his group limited on geese before lunch.

Lots of new ice over the past 7-10 days. Supposed to warm up here over the next few so not much new should form but I don't expect much of a melt off either

Need a big Chinook Wind to blow through for a day or so and that'll open things up.

if it does not freeze tonite it wont for a while.    we are to be in the 40's for a week.  a couple of nites it wont get to 32.   in Othello it is freezing rain a bit or freezing fog or whatever it is that sticks to everything and looks like a skating rink.     mike w
