Compact 40 pistol
« on: December 03, 2015, 12:29:32 PM »
I'm looking for a pocket style semi auto in 40 s&w (or anything bigger than 9mm) I want something that will go in a front pocket with a low profile holster.  6 or 7 round mag, 1.5 to 2 in barrel.  Not looking at revolvers at this time.

Any suggestions on a good option, or something to steer clear of?

I was looking at that.  looks nice, and I love S&W.  The specs made it look a little large for pocket use.

How do you carry yours?

Ruger sr40c is amazing, though I don't consider it a pocket pistol.  I guess it just depends on how big your pockets are.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

I'm thinking something that will work in a business professional attire like slacks or docker style pants.

I think just about any single stack gun in a 9 or 40 is going to be pushing it for a pocket pistol. Ill say +1 on the shield I have one in 9mm, however depending on how you wear your pants it might be too big. frankly I think the "pocket" pistol realm is pretty much monopolized by the new .380 guns.

The Glock will go in the front pocket of slacks but it will print, especially when sitting down.  It is also a bit heavy and you will know it’s there.

.40S&W is too much for a small gun, IMHO. Far better to get back on target and more shots  :twocents:

Lots of police departments feel the same way and they're not even going for discrete carry. .40S&W is a relatively new round and while it is certainly one of the most popular cop calibers today there are several departments that ditched it to go back to the 9mm.

I have the Shield in .40.  Love it.  Goes in my hunting pants front pocket easily.
Wouldn't work in a jeans pocket.

Walther PPS is pretty slim and compact.  It's definitely one of the smaller/slimmer carry guns you can get in .40 I have one in a 9mm.

Cool.  Going to look at the Shield at the gun range today.  I'll see if they have the walther as well.
