My best day EVER!
« on: December 16, 2015, 06:46:26 PM »
Went over to Eastern Washington and had my best duck hunting day EVER! :IBCOOL: This will be a tough one to top! My fiancee accompanied Hntrspud and I on the trip, since she wanted to experience duck hunting first hand since she knows I love it, so she wanted to check it out. She did not hunt, but her company and support was wonderful

We got to our spot, set up our blinds, and waited. Didn't take long before HUGE flocks were flying overhead. The sound of hundreds and hundreds of wings, and all the chatter amongst the ducks was breathtaking. Quite a sight to see! From there it was ON!

We targeted singles and doubles so we didn't educate the large flocks, and got our 2 man limit within 2.5 hours! First time I've ever gotten a full 7 bird limit, and they're all big fat northern mallards!!!!

Nice job Jenny, how was the ice situation? Looks like it was wide open?

Large bodies of water in the area were open, smaller ponds, with less water movement that I saw on the way were iced over.

There isn't much better than hot duck action over open water on a sunny day!  Congrats on the experience and a great pile of mallards!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
