I live in Curlew and drive down to Spokane every weekend to see my wife and kids; my wife is finishing school at EWU. Anyway I always swing by my place quickly after school on Friday pick up my gun and head south. This Friday I did the same routine and stopped quickly in the store in Curlew to get a soda for the ride. As I'm leaving a young girl comes up to me and asks me how to get to 395, I looked at her and laughed and told her that I just happend to be heading that way she could follow me. So we take off my 17hmr is sitting on the front seat like it has every weekend for 2 years in case a bobcat decides to pop its little head out. Well I haven't seen one going over the pass in close to a year (bus driver sees them weekly
). I'm over the top on the other side heading down and sure enough 100yds down the rd dead smack in the road there sits a nice tom, looks to be about 35 pounds. Well crap I have this girls on my bumper following me over and I don't want to jump out with a gun that would scare the crap out of her so I keep moving down the road the cat goes over the hill side and I go up about a 100 more yards and pull over she comes up along side of me and asks me what I'm doing and I said I just saw a bobcat and I'm going back to shoot it, she looks at me kind of crazy like and said why didn't you shoot it when it was in the middle of the road. I was speechless. I responded because I just met you at the store and I told you that you could follow me a complete stranger to 395, so I lead you up on top of a pass that you have never seen and step out with a gun. I didn't want you to run me over. She laughed and said, should have shot it...
On the positive side I went back and looked for the cat and I found a culvert that he is living in. Its now just a matter of time.
