Flooded wooded areas.  If you see wood duck boxes hanging in trees in that area, it is a good sign!

River bottoms, beaver ponds, anywhere with water and lots of trees lol. They are pretty much all over the state.

You can carve them yourself if you want. Kidding. Ask to float down the river by your house. Most are gone now, but next season, try it before mid November. Nice deer

That is a great question, I shot one about 5-6 seasons ago, and haven't seen one since.

+1 on the time frame, haven't seen a single one since November... except for in the freezer that is 



Keep a look out for an area that has these. Or build a couple for your area!

It's getting pretty late in the season from my experience, they tend to move out when the freezing weather stays for long.

For you - I would set up somewhere on the Black River early in the season next year.  You'll get them hanging out there.

Or go on the eastside and find some Russian Olive.

If you like combat hunting, sleeping in your truck overnight to get a blind, skybusters and so on then the Millet at the mouth of the Walla Walla River is the place to go.

Woody numbers in pictures keep getting bigger...
Here was a decent Wa hunt for wood ducks, 5 man limit.  Also, we have been and are still shooting them.  Not all leave and we shoot a lot in January.
