As time allows I will try to keep this updated - please pass this along to everyone you know.

Next Friday, 5 February, is the cut-off for bills to pass out of their first policy committee (most gun bills out of House Judiciary or Senate Law & Justice). Theoretically, bills that do not move on through the process are considered dead for the session (subject to extraordinary action, rarely). That means most of the bills on the “active” list will drop out and we can narrow our focus, as well as support for or opposition to a narrower number of bills.

lots of bill trying to go through. I like the repeal of I 594
the others most I hate especially not being able to by a pistol unless you have a CCL of concealed pistol license that's BS.
the one that puts convicted felons into a data base is the very reason Huntrights was stating in 2013 that that bill to make all felons register was a bad idea now you see the next step.
Fro those that say  writing a bad check is a felon. If people can't see the far reaching implications of most these bills, and are thinking so what they wont be effected are living some pipe dream for unless your a lawyer no one is aware of all the laws that could get anyone arrested and convicted of a felon. loss gun rights no more second amendment.
Especially those who plan on not complying with these draconian laws, hope you don't go supporting them being jailed when some are.

AN ACT Relating to requiring permission to bring a concealed firearm into another person's residence or dwelling place;

It is unlawful for a person to carry a concealed firearm into the residence or dwelling place of another person without first obtaining the express permission of the owner or person in legal control or possession of the residence or dwelling place.

A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.

Upon conviction for a violation of this section, the court shall order the person to surrender any concealed pistol license and prohibit the person from obtaining a concealed pistol license for a period of five years from the date of conviction.

 The court shall forward the date of conviction and a copy of the person's driver's license or identicard, or comparable information, to the department of licensing within three judicial days after conviction. The department of licensing shall immediately notify the license issuing authority if the department of licensing's records indicate the convicted person has a concealed pistol license. Upon receipt of the notification, the license issuing authority shall immediately revoke the person's concealed pistol license for a period of five years from the date of conviction.

This passes you more than likely wont be able to go outside because any further than your front door it will be illegal to carry.

Am I the only one that really gets depressed looking at this list?

An honest question "Where does this political degeneracy come from?". How long can a country stay free with constant attacks on the dignity and freedom of it citizens? Have traveled all over the world, and will make the bold statement America is the ONLY free country in the world. That includes Europe, they are slaves to the state and have had dignity breed out of them for the most part. Talk to anyone under 40 from Europe and they are Bernie fans soul deep and have no concept of life without the state running it.

Have been "seeking" to understand what creates the world view and "Anti-Survival Instinct" the anti-2nd crew has? And of course look at all the other liberty destroying and community destroying legislation always being pushed. We should be expected to be compassionate enough to let drug dealers park their RV next to schools, and are "mean" if we have issue with that. Jeez.

I am encouraged by letters to the editors in my local paper. Some writers I never agree with, who write often.  I saw one of those writers post a letter today that said get off the the gun owners back and address the other problems.
Some folks are coming around and realizing all the gun laws are doing nothing and only distracting from the real problems.

But we have to keep after it at any cost to protect our 2A.

AN ACT Relating to liability insurance requirements for firearm owners and purchasers

(1) (a) It shall be unlawful for a person to purchase a firearm unless, at the time of the purchase, the purchaser presents to the seller proof that the purchaser is covered by a qualified liability insurance policy.

(b) It shall be unlawful for a person to sell a firearm unless, at the time of the sale, the seller verifies that the purchaser is covered by a qualified liability insurance policy.

(c) It shall be unlawful for a person who owns a firearm purchased on or after the effective date of this section not to be covered by a qualified liability insurance policy.

A person who violates this section is subject to a fine in an amount of up to ten thousand dollars.

Please OPPOSE this bill, this is prejudicial against gun owners who cannot afford liability insurance and will reduce the ability of low income families to be able to defend themselves.  These same people are often stuck in low income housing which has a higher rate of violent crime than the average neighborhood. This will result in either families breaking the law in order to protect themselves or them not being able to protect themselves and their families. 

This is also just one more step in the anti-gun agenda to make exercising our 2nd Amendment rights more difficult.

Please OPPOSE this bill and please let me know where you, my representatives, stand on these issues being proposed that will do nothing to reduce violent crime.

Next Friday, 5 February, is the cut-off for bills to pass out of their first policy committee (most gun bills out of House Judiciary or Senate Law & Justice). Theoretically, bills that do not move on through the process are considered dead for the session (subject to extraordinary action, rarely). That means most of the bills on the “active” list will drop out and we can narrow our focus, as well as support for or opposition to a narrower number of bills.

the others most I hate especially not being able to by a pistol unless you have a CCL of concealed pistol license that's BS.
the one that puts convicted felons into a data base is the very reason Huntrights was stating in 2013 that that bill to make all felons register was a bad idea now you see the next step.
Fro those that say  writing a bad check is a felon. If people can't see the far reaching implications of most these bills, and are thinking so what they wont be effected are living some pipe dream for unless your a lawyer no one is aware of all the laws that could get anyone arrested and convicted of a felon. loss gun rights no more second amendment.
Especially those who plan on not complying with these draconian laws, hope you don't go supporting them being jailed when some are.

Update to gun owners from Rep. Dan Kristiansen – 02-22-16

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Here's a quick list of several gun-control bills that did not get voted out of the House Judiciary Committee by the Feb. 5 cutoff:

•   House Bill 1747 - Would have created the crime of child endangerment due to unsafe storage of a firearm.
•   House Bill 2354 - Would have banned certain semiautomatic weapons and magazines with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
•   House Bill 2372 - Would have allowed for the destruction of forfeited firearms.
•   House Bill 2374 - Would have levied a five-cent per-round fee on the retail sale of ammunition.
•   House Bill 2460 - Would have authorized cities, towns, counties, and other municipalities to restrict the possession of firearms in any designated public park space,  recreational facilities, libraries and on any mode of public transportation and transit facilities.
•   House Bill 2461 - Would have established extreme risk protection orders to temporarily prevent an individual from possessing, accessing, or purchasing firearms while that individual poses a significant danger of harm.
•   House Bill 2738 - Would have requiring permission to bring a concealed firearm into another person's residence or dwelling place.
•   House Bill 2836 - Would have prohibited a person from purchasing a firearm without proof of liability insurance.

There were also some bills to reinforce your right to keep and bear arms. Unfortunately, they also died in the Democratic-controlled House. They included:

•   House Bill 1245 - Would have repealed background check provisions for gun sales and transfers related to Initiative 594.
•   House Bill 1886 - Would have referred a full repeal of Initiative 594 to the people.
•   House Bill 2164 - Would have recognized the constitutional right to bear arms and revised background checks for firearm transfers between and among people not disqualified from legally possessing a firearm.
•   House Bill 2553 - Would have protected the constitutionally-guaranteed right to lawful possession of firearms during a state of emergency.

There is an important public safety bill relating to firearms that passed the House:

•   House Bill 2410 - Would require certain firearm felony offenders to be registered into a statewide database. Passed House, 94-3. The measure is scheduled for a public hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 24 in the Senate Law and Justice Committee.

The 2016 legislative session is scheduled to end March 10. While bills may appear to be "dead," there is always a chance while the Legislature is in session for them to be "resurrected." That's why it is important to be ever vigilant and involved.

During my time here in the Legislature, I have proudly voted in support of the 2nd amendment on numerous occasions. While I believe we do need to address the issue of gun violence as a society, I do not believe infringing on the rights of our citizens is the proper approach. As a democrat I have taken a lot of heat on this issue because I have been so strongly in favor of protecting our 2nd amendment rights.

 

Having served in the United States Army in both Kosovo and Iraq, I understand the responsibility that comes with our right to bear arms and will continue to protect our 2nd Amendment rights in the future. I did not support this legislation and wanted to let you know that HB 2354 died earlier this session and will not be considered again this year. I like this Senator. It does prove "Most Libs love their guns too". I believe the whole Gun Prohibition on the Left is mostly "pushed on the party" to get money. Plenty of overdomesticateds (as I call them) on the Left but most are not That Gone.
