Remington 870.......   and if you get theone capable of 3 1/2" mags, you're good for everything you can hunt with a shotgun.

If you're willing to go used, someone just posted an 870 in the classifieds with chokes and ammo.

GREAT DEAL.

No, I don't know the owner, but it's a great deal.

No one can deny the 870 is a reliable gun and inexpensive. But is it comfortable to shoot? Especially for your son? How old is he? Is he a big kid? Honestly they are great for the money but I'm not a big guy and I wouldn't want to shoot 3 1/2s out of a pump shotgun. Just me personally. If he's pretty good sized maybe it'll be okay but maybe recoil is something to consider just my :twocents:

I have this one for sale $400 if you're interested.  It's unfired BNIB.

Looking for suggestions.  I'm purchasing a 12 gauge shotgun for my son for Turkey season.  I'm not looking to pay more than $400.  What is a good brand for this price range? Thank you :)

I really depends on how big/strong your kid is.  I had bought a 870 youth 20ga for my 10 year old who's on the bigger side.  It kicks him pretty good.  If I were to do it all over again I would have gone the semiauto route.  Much less recoil.

A brand new 870 is 350. Bucks and will be flawless for years kind of a know brainer 870 all the way
