I say don't kill any of the coyotes! Maybe when the population hits critical mass and pets start being attacked in numbers on a daily basis these low IQ "feel good" types will rethink their ignorant positions on trapping.

Nothing like finding part of your dog/cat eaten to knock you out of Disneyland and back into reality.

I have noticed just this week a heavy population of rabbits in puyallup since I started working for the city. Maybe the coyotes population started spiking due to the smaller animal population abundance and will hopefully go back down once they start eating up all the food source. Didn't realize how much woods there was in puyallup until I worked there I have seen a lot of deer already in just a week!

  All of the mentioned towns, cities and counties us Dept. of Agriculture shooters for predator control on a regular basis. A few years ago Fife got rid of many coyotes at night and in traps, one weighed in at 51 pounds.  In Fife over 20 coyotes in a couple weeks.
Be careful when where you shoot and what, many cities ban air guns and bows. This is not talked about much because of those against hunting, I guess.

I grew up in S. Bellevue by the blueberry fields. There is a bunch of yotes around there. I have seen plenty in my old neighborhood as well as the nature trails in that area. There's some deer there too. I live Renton now and there are some yotes that live in the DoT pit near my house. I hear them yapping it up pretty regular. Seen quite a few in Tukwila as well. I worked for a company that is developing land there and used to see them on the regular at the work sites. Anywhere there is a green belt or vacant lot that they don't get disturbed, they'll settle right in. I just watched "Nature" about the coywolf the other night and it showed how researchers had documented coyotes in Central Park in the middle of NY City.

A close friend of my uncle was driving down 512 recently at night heading towards south hill and had a cougar run across just before the big bend by the fair grounds. I guess he called in right after and talked to state patrol, pierce county sheriff, and puyallup police dept and I think wdfw but no one wanted to do anything about it.

Doesn't surprise me. I work for the city and when I call dispatch and let them know things like the guy with the warrant is right here right now it takes them 90 minutes to get there. Mountain lion running from the fairgrounds to Good Sam... no biggie.

Problem is I am pretty sure Puyallup has a no firearms discharge ordinance and is almost entirely private property.  So gotta figure out a way to setup and get in bow range, AND drop them in their tracks...  Game animals are not completely dumb, they know where they are safe.

I might be up for joining you, just have to see how scouting and prep for Sept Elk works out timewise.

Yes I am aware of all that hence the "join me for bow hunting" part of the post.

I have access to two private properties with wooded areas. But I got enough responses to this post for now.

2 years ago I had seen coyotes in Tacoma right off Steele St. & 112th just past 512 ramp.  I've got a buddy who just bought a house over by Woodbine Cemetery, near Puy Fair Grounds.  He hears coyotes yipping every night behind his house in a little wooded area.  Myself I live just past 260th & Mtn Hwy close to a bunch of wetland so we've got tons of rabbits, greenheads, and coyotes everywhere.  Neighbor has even seen cougar in his driveway while getting mail.  Unfortunately from my understanding back in mid 2000's Pierce County banned firearm discharges even out here in the county.  They make up new laws and don't even tell ya until its too late.  The only reason I found out was because a guy out here owns 100acres was told he was no longer able to hunt his own land.... So he took it to court, not sure if he won or not. 

I saw a dead coyote about 2 weeks ago on 512 at the I-5 interchange.

I saw that one too.  512 has several road kills a year
