My Sendero Shoots (new scope)!!!

Kind of... I went to the range today to get it all dialed in. The range master asked me where I was going to shoot and I said I was going to start at 50 because it was only bore-sighted. He urged me to start at 25 and I agreed, and I'm glad I did. My first couple shots were tight, but low and to the right, so we started moving my scope. Shot a couple more...same spot. Hmmm....  Kept moving the scope 12 clicks at a time, and the stupid thing wouldn't pull over, so after about 10-12 shots it all of a sudden comes up higher and starts hitting fairly tight. So, after about a 4" 19 shot group, I decided to take my last shot and aim at the left point of the center diamond, and that is the shot pictured that hit dead center/low. We moved the scope A LOT of clicks, and it just wouldn't change. We also made sure the mounts were tight. So, I am headed to Cabela's right now (where I bought the scope and $60 box of ammo) to see what they will do for me.

Maybe the rings aren't aligned properly. That would be my guess.

You may have a stuck sight, but this is not very common out of the box.  Were you able to move the cross hairs during the bore sighting process?  You should check your bore sight again and see if the cross hairs moved since your bore sighting.  I sighted in my new 7mm a couple of weeks ago.  I went through the same process and had to move my sights over 5 or 6 times in groups of 12-16 clicks.  I thought something was odd as well, but it eventual came over.  I was sighting in at 50 yards and rechecked my bore sight after I got home and it had moved over a few segments.  At 25 yards, it will take several series of clicks to see the impact on paper.

Zeiss Conquest.

I went to Cabelas and they put the bore-sighter on it, and I could see the crosshairs moving around just fine. I will go back out to the range next weekend and give it another go. There was a guy 3 benches down from me that said he had the same problem with his Zeiss a few years ago.

What kind of bases and rings did they mount it with?

Leupold dual dovetails.

When they mounted the rings, I watched, and they had the two rods with points on them that they put through the rings to make sure they are aligned properly.

Great choice. Not many people use those. Not that I know of anyway.

Some more review of the rifle overall...

The Jewell trigger is sweet.  I have it set at 2.5lbs, and I was wondering if it would be too light, but I can still rest my finger on the trigger before pulling it, and it is so smooth. It will stay at 2.5, and I will soon be ordering one for my VTR.

The muzzlebrake is great. The recoil was about that of a .243. I shot 20 rounds through it, and I never felt a single one. As for the sound, to the shooter it is quieter than my VTR with the brake is. To the people to the left and right....I heard one guy say to a group of others after I had shot a few times, "I still don't think that thing is loud enough." They were shooting some cannons too though (I was sitting at the bench next to them later on).

The brake really helps it sounds like. When I shot the Sendero it was new with no brake. After 11 shots I was like, "I really dont need to shoot this again today".

You really need to shoot a non braker 300RUM to truely appreciate what you have there.

How do you guys hunt with those brakes on?  They seem so damned loud, I can imagine that you are deafened in the field after your shot?  I would rather take the recoil from my RUM than get field deafend for a while...

I shoot the exact same rifle as antlershed... with the same Defensive Edge break. I've fired several shots in the field with no hearing protection... it hasn't bothered me at all. They're loud to those in the near vicinity... but to the shooter I can't tell the difference. When you hunt by yourself... it's important to see what happens with the shot... rather than guess because the recoil blew you off... hence the break. I'd also rather practice my shooting under field conditions than spend time at a bench (where you can wear your Pact recoil pad and seeing impact means nothing)... so, the break allows me to shoot 5 times as many rounds prone or off the sticks... than I could without the break. To each their own... but I'll put a break on anything bigger than 7mm that's using more than 70 grains of powder.

Did you zero out the scope prior to mounting it in the rings? If not, you may be running out of adjustment. To do this, take a small card board box and cut a V on each side so the scope can sit in the V. Look through the scope and put the cross hairs on a point. Rotate the scope while looking at the point. If the middle of the cross hairs rotate in an oval, the scope is not zero'd out. Keep adjusting the settings until you get the scope to rotate on the point with no deviation. It's good to see they used set up rods to set the rings.

Like I said Ice, to the shooter, it is quieter than my .223 VTR with the brake. With the DE brake, ALL of the noise gets pushed to the side. So, how do I hunt with the brake? Same way you hunt without one, but I can still see the target in my scope after I pull the trigger. 

The scope wasn't running out of adjustment at the range, but it did when I was bore sighting it again yesterday because the bore sighter was too low compared to the scope. When it runs out of adjustment, the dial doesn't turn anymore.
