New boat
« on: May 21, 2016, 04:18:50 PM »
Just found out I will be inheriting a 20' Aluminum boat after my deployment ends.  The boat is a 1980 StarCraft and comes with a 70 HP and  15 HP Evinrude two stroke motors.  I am being told all of the electronics are not working or are outdated.  I plan on making this a boat for Salt water fishing, and it will need a few upgrades as well.  Its primary use was in fresh water for trout.  Where would be the go to store to buy your down riggers, pole holders, and other boat gear?  Thanks for taking the time to read this any help you can provide

sweet, spend some time and make sure all the motors and electrical get a good going through..I look at cabelas and other places online for prices, then shop the net for downriggers and such...

I have a good friend that knows a lot about small motors. I think a few nice bottles of whiskey be a nice payment to take a look at them     Cabalas is the spot where I pick up my kids for the weekends so that will be really convenient to check them out.

Do you know what year the 70hp is?  I have one that is a 1976.

As mentioned, online is usually the best for purchasing.  If the electronics work, there is probably no need to upgrade everything at once.
