Cabelas Polar Cap Coolers
« on: May 22, 2016, 06:42:30 PM »
I have been looking into these coolers and comparing to Yeti and other over ridiculously expensive Coolers.  The only negative I can find about them is the molded handles protrude past the cooler body and take up valuable extra space.

Unlike Cabelas these are priced lower than other high end coolers and are highly rated on performance.  Does anyone have one?  Do you like it and happy with it?

I've never heard of them but rokslide did a pretty comprehensive review on a lot of those type of coolers

Dont know about the cabelas coolers but have you checked rtic coolers. I have the 65 and my boss has the 20 and 65, damn nice coolers very stout you may have to wait a bit because of demand but shipping is free also.

Thanks for the info guys.  Checked out the Rtic website and basically half price of most of the competition.

My 80 Qt. is in at Cabelas.  I had 250 in gift cards so I decided to go ahead and get it. I am guessing I will order me a smaller size in RTIC here soon.  I am tired of my igloo coolers that just don't keep ice for any reasonable amount of time. Guessing these will be the solution to multiple days away from electricity.

There's a simple three step process for getting a cooler:
1.  Take out a 2nd mortgage
2.  Cash in all of your savings bonds... kids can pay for their own college
3.  Buy a Yeti cooler

On a more serious note, I'd be interested in what you learn about these.   I just can't see paying what some of these premium cooler folks want for a cooler.

I dont think Yeti coolers are by any means a "standard" to compare to.  1 word ... marketing.  Ive seen plenty of tests where Yeti coolers are among the worst(out of the high end coolers).  I would look for reviews and comparisons between them.  Im sure they are out there.  Then I would just look at features.  As hard as it is to do sometimes ... ignore the brand.  Every factory I worked at in my earlier years manufactured multiple brands and we rarely changed anything but the stickers ...
