smart coyote
« on: February 02, 2009, 01:35:49 PM »
Last year we called a spot over on the east side.  We had a coyote come in off a high ridge about 1/2mile away, he came in at a dead run jinking throught the sage, made a quarter turn around the caller and kept right on going at full tilt till he disapperared over the next ridge.  We called the same spot this year, here he comes hell bent for the caller, same quarter turn and over the same ridge. I'd say he fiqured out how to check things out and still save his hide.  This year we tried barkng and woofing, he never broke stride

I used to tell newbys that they stop 100% of the time when you bark at them. I've had two this year that didn't. Gotta love those smart dogs.

seen several that barking didn't work on, especially lately.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

We must have hunting the same spot because I had one do that to me not long ago. He came in running and turned just before the caller and went out of sight without stopping. :dunno:
