I had the modern rifle.  Scouted 5 days before season on weyco. Never saw an elk.  Scouted state land two days.  Saw branch bulls both days but nothing impressive. Shot a small bull off the 3000 line first day.  Pm me if you want some specific areas to look at.  I had some ideas about where to go to try for a big one but decided to take the easy meat in the freezer.

good meat bulls around on the state land
usually not much pressure which I liked the best

I haven't been in the unit for a few years for deer, but I always saw nice bulls in there. Nice tag. Good luck.

I have had that tag before and have helped friends with that tag.  You will have a blast.

My son has a cow muzzle loader tag which he will blow one up pretty quickly.  It should be fun...

No Weyco key yet. Should be any day I hope. I drew the archery tag for Toutle too. Should be a fun hunt.

As stated above, I know the area well. If you have issues, pm me.
Wife had the tag last yr, and let a 6x7 brush bull walk (as in she never drew at 7 yrs....), then was just outta reach of a 6x8 not 2 hrs later (she only draws 55, and only comfortable at 35 yrs).
Lots of 4x, and smaller 5x. No toads, but a fun hunt.

My son filled his cow tag on opening morning. I saw 4 bulls including one dandy 6x6 . That with waking up late due to a failed alarm going off so we only hunted about 2 hrs . Was a good hunt . Now its dads turn

yea we were about a half mile from the road. Had a good skidder rd to get out on. Used the cart and decided to try to get her out whole. Not a lot of fun. Discovered my 50 dollar cart is junk. Probly will cut in half next time.
