Why are they a pain on your property?

I am curious because we have property in Snag Canyon.  After the fire we have a ton of Marmots/rockchucks.  We also now have badgers, I guess they like to eat rockchucks.

The ecosystem has greatly changed since the fire and I am wondering what the drawbacks of some of these new critters are.

I know the rockchucks defecate all over my excavator, dozer and dump truck.  >:(

They DIG under the sprinkler wheels and excavate the $&@& outta alfalfa fields trying to get ground squirrels it's easier on the fields if you just shoot the squirrels! We never shot the Badgers even though they were a pain but we would cuss them out pretty good. One time we watched a badger keep 3 coyotes at bay off of a road kill whitetail doe pretty impressive

Got it, I have forestland so no sprinklers.

Can you shoot badgers or only trap them?

I was spraying thistles on my property, saw the dog jump up and a grey object jump up as well, called the dog off and went over to find the badger in a standoff.  Property is just north of Ellensburg in Snag Canyon, between Wilson Creek road and Robins Road.  Badger was within 100 yards of where the snag canyon fire started.
