Is the cat carrying the critter by the head or feet?  Head/neck is normal, and if that's the case I was thinking otter or fisher.  But if by feet and that is the ribcage then maybe a big rabbit.  Kind of looks like the critter extends down below the log.

I thought kitten too but look at the belly, it's trim.  A lactating lion should have a belly waddle and longer hair along the teets.


Also a kitten being carried usually tuck their back legs up and bring their tail up curling into a ball while being carried.
