Wooldridge sled value?
« on: August 27, 2016, 09:43:04 PM »
Anyone have an idea of what a 2000 wooldridge 17' sled is worth. I believe it's an Alaskan but could be wrong. Has windshield with console steering, 90hp Johnson pump(original), and a 2006 ish honda 4 stroke 8hp trolling/kicker motor. I'd say overall in good condition. It's a family members who is possibly looking to sell. Thanks

I would go on Craigslist or something like it and do some comparisons. Should be able to find a few. Good luck

Don't see a ton of them for sale, guys like to hold on to them and they keep their value.

Thanks for the input. I've poked around a little but it's hard to find an apples to apples comparison, lots of variety as far as models, motors, and packages. Also there always seems to be a lacking number of used wooldridge boats for sale, not a lot of folks seem to sell them and for good reason. I'd buy this one if I had the cash to blow.

that sounds reasonable.  a 90hp almost sounds a little small for a jet on that boat though, they usually like to put something in the 115-150 range on a 17 footer.  my 14' alaskan came with a 75.

Yep that's about right
On the 16's I build most are 90/65's
17's are a combo of 90/65 and 115/80
18's are mostly 115/80 and a couple 150/105

The Alaska series were a light weight boat made for Kenai usage in many cases.  90hp makes them fly.

Thanks for the info. That price range is kinda what I was figuring, I believe it is 90hp with the pump so possibly 115/120 if it had a prop, could be wrong tho. Is there a build plate on a Johnson that says the motor hp or is what's listed on the cover the actual hp?

Since it says 90hp on it - that means it's not a factory jet engine, so it's only going to be 65hp at the pump. Still all good for that size hull.
A factory 115 would say 80
A factory 150 would say 105

I do know the Johnson is original, have seen the build sheet/ invoice and was with my grandpa when he picked it up from wooldridge.

Yep original with the boat- but not a factory jet engine. Wooldridge most likely put the pump on as they have a long history with Ouboard Jet.
It's going to be 65hp at the water

You could call Danny Cook at Wooldridge he would give you a good idea what its worth.  They also consign used boats,  I know it wouldn't last long.  Those 17' Alaskans go quick.

Sako,
That makes sense, it does seem to be slightly underpowered.

Wa hunter,
Sounds like a good idea I'll definitely give them a buzz, thanks
