Duck Season conundrom
«

Ok, we all now that duck season starts on Oct 13, right? Right. Why is it that on the 17th it closes until the 20th. What's the purpose fro the break. Is it to fool the ducks? Is it "Just for the hell of it...love WDFW"? I'm not the smartest dude in the world but I would like some light light shed on this question. Just wondering.
Cheers,
TM

It has to do with the Federal and the alotted 107 hunting days. They didn;t do that we would either start later or end earlier..............At least we don't have to wait till noon to start hunting anymore.

having the closure makes it so it will end on a weekend...with the liberal season framework the max we get is a 107 days

I love the long season, but I do kinda miss when the state had two week closure after the 1st week or two of the season. It was great having two opening days for ducks and reduced a little hunting pressure.

Plus it also allows for the 2 day youth hunt which comes out of the 107 allotted days.
Remember about 10 years ago they opened it on the 1st Saturday of October? October 4th to be exact. Easy for me to remember since I was putting on my tuxedo and getting married on opening day of duck season!!!
At least they changed it back after a few years. Now we get a little break between archery season and the four months I'm gone duck hunting al the time. Heading over to Seattle to set sail on a Cruise ship this weekend to celebrate the 10 years.
Makes waiting for the 13th easy.

Congrats on 10 years! For me, ( and I know my opinion is worth nothing) it gets easier every year. Been married 17.
