Anybody driving a newer Kia or Hyundai sedan?
« on: August 30, 2016, 09:31:34 PM »
I am considering getting a new one so that I am not driving our F150 SCREW around town.

How do you like it?  What model?

Wife and I have a 2010 Kia Optima, it was the year before the big redesign and while it's not as stylish as the newer ones it has been a pretty trouble free car. The only complaint I would have with it is how loud it is going down the road but I have to imagine they've fixed that in newer models

I have an '08 Sonata with 165k trouble free miles. No warranty claims. The only issue I've noticed is it goes through headlights, 2 or 3 per year whether you're putting in the cheap ones or expensive ones. Overall I'm very satisfied with it. The newer hybrids get very good mileage, I get 29 or 30 mpg.

My wife bought an Elantra last fall, it's ok I guess it just went over 18,000 miles. No troubles yet.

It's obviously not a Honda, but hey they are cheaper than Honda's.

My girlfriend has a 2005 Elantra.  Same thing, no problems except the stupid headlights burn out all the time.

I have a 2011 Sonata and with the exception of the turbo coming out of adjustment once, it has been trouble free. I've got 97,000 miles on it so far.

Daughter has a 2007 Accent,
Wife has a 2011 Santa Fe
Daughter 2 has a 2016 Accent

The 2007 - has had the coils replaced a couple of times. Also requires a timing belt change ever 60K miles ($400 per with labor).  The newer engines have timing chains.

No others issues

Thanks for the replies

I drive a F150 Lariatt SCREW 4x4 and am thinking it would make a lot more sense to get something like this to run back and forth to work and to run errands in than to wear out a $50K pickup doing the same things.  It would be quite a bit easier to park at Costco etc.

I am looking at the larger of the compact sedans, I think it is called Elantra GT or Forte

One thing I thought was odd was that one dealer said none that they have in stock have cruse control????   What's up w/that?  I was unaware you could even buy a car w/o cruise control these days.
