Yard markers on scope
« on: September 12, 2016, 08:33:56 AM »
My first and only hunting rifle is a model 70 in .308. I bought it used with a scope about fifteen years ago.

The scope has  variable magnification on one end and what I assume are yardage adjustment on the other. I have left it on 4x and the 100 setting since my first trip to the range with it. I understand the magnification end but if I adjust the yardage end (assuming that's what the numbers correlate to) what does that do to my sight? Do I need it tuned to my rifle or do I have to sight it in at each range?

It shoots great without changing anything but I had it out last weekend and figured people on here probably could get me an answer. If it helps I'd look at using it at different settings instead of just fixed at the same one all the time. Thanks.

Google info about adjustable parallax. That's what the dial with yardage is for. I can't explain it easier or faster then Google though lol

The distance adjustment is for parallax.

Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.
