Pop-up blinds for turkey
« on: September 18, 2016, 06:34:23 PM »
Looking to get into a pop-up blind for Turkey hunting this spring, need it big enough for 2 people to hunt comfortably, and tall enough I can shoot my bow out of it, other then those 2 requirements I don't know what I should be looking for, what features are recommended etc.

My budget is going to be around the 200$ mark I think, unless it really is worth it going up in price.

I have shot quite a few out of a double bull blind, but they are kinda expensive..........You need windows you can open and close and black out behind you to conceal movement inside........I dont like shooting out of the mesh so its nice to be able roll that up too.........

The main thing is to figure on the size you need for two people and a bow, it is more than one would think. Find a stool and set yourself up with your kitchen chairs or something around you to see how much space you will need to comfortably move around/draw your bow.

Once you know the minimum size you need, then you can look for the features/price you'd like.  I saw one once with magnetic strips that held the camo screens on, thought that was a great feature as velcro is really loud.

yeah looking at the ones displayed at cabelas, I realized real quick that there wont be much room for anything with me in the smaller versions. they have a real nice one, forget the model, but it was like 300$, cabelas branded.

the good news is, I don't plan on shooting the bow out of it unless I am alone.

I have an Ameristep Back Country  and it was about half that price.  I have other chair blinds and a Doghouse blind from them and they work just fine.  They are low cost and seem to be fairly decent quality.

A couple of the ones I got are out of the Bargain Cave and they have been fine.  The Back Country may work for your application.   It would be big enough for two people to sit side by side I think.

It would be a bit cramped, but it would probably be OK.  I use them for blacktail hunting.
