2016 bucks for us so far.
« on: October 24, 2016, 12:34:51 PM »
One more day of the general deer season and I will have to see if I can fill my Washington tag tomorrow afternoon before it closes.  Here are a few of the bucks we have gotten so far.  Two Wyoming antelope that me and my son harvested, Two Wyoming bucks that me and my buddy got (Biggest 3x3 you will ever see), a couple of Washington bucks my daughters shot on opening day in Walla Walla County, and a nice Grant County buck another one of my daughters got mid-week last week (yes, I have 6 daughters!).  Hopefully I will have a picture of a monster buck that I have been chasing here in Eastern Washington tomorrow night if my tomorrow afternoon hunt turns out like I would like!!!  Get ready for elk season!  Hunted a limited entry Montana big bull unit Saturday for the opener and just about got a shot at a monster bull but it stepped into the trees just as I got set up for the shot.  Walked 21.8 miles on Saturday and barley made it out hobbling and sorer than I have ever been!  Will be back chasing him in two more weeks.  Happy hunting to all!!!

Thanks,  I'm going to need all the luck I can get to get him.  He is so illusive.  I wounded him in his lower left front leg last Thursday afternoon with a botched shot going lower than I wanted and hitting his lower leg.  Barely slowed him down.  He ran up the super steep canyon and jumped the fence following the other smaller buck that he was with.  Couldn't find him at all.  I was supposed to leave Friday morning early to Montana for a one day hunt on Saturday for elk but went back up to try and find any sign of the deer Friday morning with no success and left for Montana later in the day then I had planned.  I don't think he is mortally wounded and will try again tomorrow afternoon after everything has settled down.  If no luck then I will get out the four wheeler this Friday after the season has closed and scan the 40,000 plus acres looking to see if he was wounded more than I thought and see if I can find birds on him if he did die or if the coyotes got him.  I just hate to hunt big bucks with any vehicles at all because they are to smart to put up with that.  Any noise whatsoever and they are gone!!!  So I wont go in with the four wheeler until after the season.  We will see.

Great season so far, hope you can find the big guy and finish him off before the season ends.

"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
