What a morning....starts off by someone beating me to my spot so off to my back up spot an someone's already there  not the best start so off to another spot and someones blocking the road  so I leave again heading to a spot i know someone will be at but I'm giving it a try and what do you know it's empty....it has a series of cuts down this road and we start glassing with nothing popping up so we head down the road to the next spot and I get out and step out to the side of the road and instantly see a buck at the timber line, I grab the spotter and see it's a small 2pt so I go to get my son as he's sound asleep in the back seat    I get him up and he dinks around long enough for the buck to slip back into the timber chasing a doe  we move on down the road another 5-600 yds to the next clearcut and start glassing and at the tail end of my first sweep of the timber line I spot a nice buck working his way around a ridge line so we run back to the truck and hightail it up to the next little spur that stops ontop of the ridge this buck was working and me and my son work our way down closer. We set up on a big ceder stump with his bipod out he has a rock steady rest, now the waiting game....we probably waited 10min but seemed like an hour till I seen forks crest the ridge line. I'm trying to get my son to see the buck but he's blind as a bat  and after 5 min of directions he finally sees the buck moving. I gave a grunt and he stops at 150 yds broadside and he lets a round lose from the .243 and the deer tips over and doesn't move 2 yds  buck fever has already set in and his shot was far back so one more in the neck and he was down for good ! His biggest buck yet

2 left....me and my dad....I put myself on the back burner and have been helping everyone else have a chance to fill there tags....tomorrow it's go time...we seen 5 bucks today and a handful of does and 2 herds of elk...pretty good day

He hates pants! It's a constant battle  ...I made him put on his rain pants to drag it out so he won't get cut up...you can see he's holding them before he gets in the creek
