Its been a good year!!!

Its been a good year! Kids had fun, Dad is still sore, and my two hunting buddies are tired of seeing me!!! A couple of memories to haunt my dreams too. Like the monster Mule deer I hit hard and wounded in Montana and searched two full days for and the massive heavy Grant County buck that slipped out from under my nose with a tricky trick I wont fall for again! But that's what makes it all worth it and keeps you going each year!
I do have a funny (not at the time) story for you from this last weekend. When we went to Montana deer and elk hunting this year I shot my bull the first day. I knew I wouldn't be home for 8 more days. We brought a small chest freezer in the back of the truck and so I put all of the de-boned meat into the freezer and froze it so I could take care of it when I got home. After being home a couple of weeks I finally got the time to cut up the meat. I went out and unplugged the freezer and left the lid open in the garage to unthaw. Two days later it was still frozen solid! So I laid the freezer on its side and put a box fan blowing on it to help it melt. Two days later it was still frozen solid and no way in this world could you get it out of the freezer! Wedged in solid! I started to worry about the meat on the outside that was unthawing and that it would spoil. So me and my son in law decided to fill the freezer up with warm water to see if that would loosen it up. That probably helped but we still couldn't get it out! So the next step we took the lid off of the chest freezer and tipped it upside down! Then we noticed it budged a little so we started lifting it up and dropping it down hard on the concrete. It slipped out halfway and was still stuck! Then my son in law stared to jump on it and it finally came out with chunks of plastic from the top of the freezer breaking off! I'm not sure if the freezer survived the incident but will find out later. We then thought our troubles were over but soon found out the four big game bags were so frozen together that we couldn't separate them. The edge meat needed to be dealt with due to thawing out so we got aggressive again and tried the "lift and drop" technique with no luck! Then the "sledge hammer" technique with no luck! Finally the "Chisel and Hammer" technique worked after much pounding and trying! The nice game bags that I had are now torn to shreds! At least my wife will be happy that I am not washing the bloody things in her washer and dryer again! Needless to say I wont do that again!!! I hope you all will learn from my dingy mistakes!!! Have a great off season and next year will be here before you know it!!! Happy Hunting! Dave
