30.06 and .22 LR or .22 mag.

I've got a stainless Ruger single six with inter-changeable cylinders. I like to pack it with the .22 mag cylinder loaded with birdshot when I'm deer or elk hunting in case I see a grouse. Works great.

Sitka do you use the blue tipped birdshot or the old style crimped brass type? I have had terrible luck with the blue stuff, perhaps its me??

300 H&H and if I take a pistol its a 22LR revolver.

H&H has proven too hot for deer though.

I use the plastic tipped CCI loads. They don't have a lot of range, but work great for knocking them off a branch overhead, or one that's just sitting on the ground looking at you. I don't attempt any wingshots.  By the way, the .22 LR birdshot loads are worthless.

My rifle is 300 Win Mag and side arm is Ruger .357. It is so nice to carry the side arm with bird shot for grouse while hunting. No one ever turns down grouse with camp dinner!
