What a great opportunity. I hope you have a wonderful hunt and create some memories of a lifetime.
The Snow has got them all pushed down low into every ones back yards. I had about three hundred head out my window this morning. Neighbor (a cattleman) didn't take too kindly to them hanging out in his feed yard and by his hay stacks. Sounded like world war three with all the rifle shots. He wasn't shooting them, just trying to run them off. I'm sure they will be back tonight in the cover of darkness. You shouldn't have any trouble finding something to fill your tags but you might have to trudge through a little snow. Duchesne is just a little ways from me.
Thanks everyone. Quote from: daydreamn on January 14, 2017, 09:52:29 PMThe Snow has got them all pushed down low into every ones back yards. I had about three hundred head out my window this morning. I'm trying to get a feel for how bad the drive will be as we get further east. We start the hunt on Wednesday so I figured leaving on Monday morning would give me an extra day to get there just in case the road conditions between here and there are a little sketchy.
How were you guys getting around? I have looked into hunts like this before as a ways to get my son excited about hunting and have him around to get an elk on the ground. I'd like to do it in a year or so but I'd like to do one of those ranch hunts where you drive and glass with minimal walking so I don't discourage him.

Our guide drove us around on public land to glass for herds and then decided how to get in range. For the most part, you could drive to a road within shooting range with minimal walking if that's what you needed. The best part is that this was a public land hunt for wild game instead of a farm hunt. I'm not opposed to the farm hunts, but these cow hunts are about the same price and difficulty.
He has a couple different options, so the price can vary. Here's the link to his page for the cow elk hunts. http://bearpawoutfitters.com/utah_cow_elk_hunting.html
