Which would you choose? Thinking .30 caliber.

Deer ? Elk ? Long range or close ? If going 300 I would really look at the 300 wsm Browning Xbolt. Very compact handy rifle that packs a pop. If you need more than that I would look at jumping to a 338. The Mark 5 is a stout gun - may as well shoot something with authority in it. The 338 kicks no more than the 300 imo having shot both forever in weatherbys. Sako's are nice though.

Sako 85
Ya that, I have had a Weatherby Mark V in 7mm, great rifle.
I now Own a Sako 85 Finlight in 300 WM.
If I had to choose I would take the Sako.
Both are good rifles.

With out getting into a pissing contest I totally agree with this. My wifes Finnlight is twice the rifle that the weatherby was it replaced. I love my Kimber but am totally jealous of my wifes rifle.

I have two Sako finbears, a .338 and a7mm mag.
Both 1971 models.
The triggers, feel, accuracy, confidence are outstanding.
Like Filson's motto states,
"Might as well have the best".
A buddy has an 85 which is pretty sweet, but he still prefers
My rifles.
Sako any day.

I've never had a sako but they are on my short list for future purchases. I had an accurate in a 7 mm wthrby is was very accurate. But I sold it after hunting season because it was so heavy to pack around all day.

I used to have a Stainless Weatherby MKV in .300 WBY. PUT A BRAKE on it if you go that route...It was fine with the brake, noise aside. Without the brake she kicked like a mule.

Sako, unless you're a LR hunter - then the Wby.

I own both types of guns, both are good guns, I like the feel of the weatherby better, just a personal preference, both are great guns
