Gunbroker question
« on: March 06, 2017, 09:44:58 AM »
I recently won a bid on a new rifle. I called west coast armory about the ffl transfer and they told me they could get the same gun for cheaper. (Also, they said there was a fee for tranfering a gun they could obtain).
Can I get out of the transaction? I haven't paid yet

Just did a quick search of their website and it looks like you would need to contact the seller and get him to agree to void the transaction, otherwise you risk the seller starting a claim for non-payment.

That looks like a process of time and certain steps that need followed, but in the end it could result in you no longer being able to bid again on their site because your account could be cancelled.

You bid on it and won.  It wouldn't be right to back out now.  You can find other places to ship the rifle and do the transfer.  Should cost you about $25 - $30.

 :yeah:
You are dealing with real people on the other end of transaction.  They took the time to list and you agreed to the selling price.  I'd follow through with deal.  There is always going to be a better deal out there.  Also of course they are gonna tell you they can get you a better deal now that you have paid a certain price for an item already.

I did a google search for FFL transfer dealer and found Pinto's Guns in Renton.  I know nothing about them except for what I read on their website.

http://pintosguns.com/ffl-transfer/

They say FFL transfer fee is $30.  Seems like a possible place for you to have for rifle shipped and do the transfer.

You are good to go with Pinto's.  I done several transfers with them.  Just use the form on their website.

Pinto's in Renton   $30. They will charge sales tax if you bought from a dealer. No tax if private seller.

Find a new FFL and complete the transaction, its a pain when a buyer backs out on you.  Get in the yellow pages and just start calling FFLs and get the best price.  Your personal score or rating is a big deal on gun auction sites and you don't need bad ratings.  Communicate your problems to the seller and let him know you are looking for a new FFL, he might know someone he has dealt with in the past.

If you back out you will also get negative feedback which will make anyone in the future hesitant to deal with you.

I use Sound Pawn and Loan in Everett for all of my transfers on purchases shipped, they charge 20 for long guns and 25 for handguns.

Pinto's Guns in Renton is a good place to work with. I've known the family for years as DU FFL holders. They are #1 in my book.  :twocents:

You willingly put in the bid so pay up. If you didn't research it enough, that's your fault, not the seller's.

OP, you agreed to purchase the item when you placed the bid.
Be a stand-up guy and follow through.
In re Pinto's, Diane Pinto is one of the best gun dealers in the state.
That shop is the real deal.

Gun broker policy is the buyer can't just cancel the transaction because you want to.

I ended up contacting the seller and paying a cancellation fee. Doing something really stupid every once in awhile helps keep me humble. Thanks for the replies
