Just Right Carbine in .40 cal

How do they compare to the High Points?

I've shot the hi point in 45 and it jammed a LOT.
We tried various ammo and it didn't seam to make any difference.

Fun to shoot when it worked.

I have handled one at a banquet that was in one of the raffles. Never shot one.

I have a berretta cx4 storm carbine and its a great gun. No issues and everyone loves it. It shoots great and should for sure be looked at if you are considering a carbine like that.

I was not that impressed with Hi-point either, I have shot two, both had issues.
How hard can it be to make a "dependable" pistol caliber carbine, that does not cost an arm an leg?

I'm not a carbine guy myself, but if I really wanted one it would be in a magazine style for my favorite pistol.
Mectec makes a carbine upper for flock, 1911 and I think even the popular xd springfeild. There are 80% pistol frames for flocks and 1911 out there so a dedicated lower could be obtained without having to buy a whole gun. Hickock45 of you tube fame did a clip on them and for what they are they seem pretty good. They would make a sweet silenced 45carbine!

Not directly related to the topic at hand, but I found it interesting that the company started in upstate NY, where I'm fairly sure those rifles are illegal now.
Pistol grip, collapsible stock, etc I believe are illegal in NY.
Don't hold me to that for sure.

I have not handled the .40.  But I owned a 9mm version for a few years.  They are a solid rifle.  Works every time, pretty accurate, mellow recoil.  It got me into the pistol caliber carbine thing.  I sold mine and built a 9mm AR after that, then picked up a CZ scorpion and sold the AR.  Not sure what the JR cost these days, but check out the Scorpion, they are a really great rig.

The two negatives on the JR rigs to me are:
No lock back on empty
Pita to field strip and clean.  You have to pull out allen wrenches to pull things apart to get it open to clean it.

For those of you shooting a 9mm carbine what kind of realistic ranges do you fire at? Does it roughly equate to having a brush gin that is a 150 yard and less carbine?

MP5SDs are more then capable of hitting man sized targets with three round bursts, and single shot and 200 yards in the right hands. Though they were designed as a CQB weapon.

Pistol caliber carbines can make great Home Defense weapons, and they are also fun to shoot.

 I've got one as well, fun little gun that takes the same magazine as my 92's
