my biggest buck

heres a pic of my biggest buck. i shot it in 07. i didnt see a single buck this last season. and only a 1 doe. the area i hunt is usually promising for seeing deer. i usually see atleast 5 to 10 does. turns out, a cougar moved into the area. my brother shot at it but we could find it. just found a small amount of blood. i had my dad mount it for me. he's only mounted a handful a deer. but i think it looks flawless. i know its not a record breaker, but its a record for me.

Very cool tony04! Too bad you guys didn't find that cat. I'll bet your dad would have liked the opportunity to do a rug too!
Does your dad do a lot of taxidermy? I have been doing a little over the past few years. You can tell which one I did first (lots of mistakes-cave deer
), second (still plenty of goofs, but a little better-neanderthal deer
), third (a little better yet-cromagnon deer
), and fourth (one you would almost actually want to hang on your wall-modern deer
). My game room looks like the deer version of one of those science classrooom evolutionary charts

i think my buck was the 4th or 5th deer he's ever donein the past 20 years. i think he mounted a bull elk like 15-20 years ago. my brother got a nice 3x3, 3 or 4 years ago and he mounted that. yeah it would have really cool to get that cat. theres alot to the story but it would be alot to type. i'll make it short i guess. it was stalking my brother. he didnt have a clear shot but took what he had. pretty much from the chest up to the head. my dad met up with him, and they did find it. my brother was walking on top of a log and seen the legs sticking out. they seen it was still breathing but figured it would die soon and didnt want to ruin the hide by shooting more holes through it, so they backed off. came back 45 min later and it was sitting up like nothing happend. like a house cat on the back of a couch. before they could react, it took off down the hill. it was struggling to jump over logs, and it went in to some very thick under brush. we went in the next day and found where it had layed down under a log to lick its wound and only found hair and no blood. we couldnt find it. so thats the story on the cat.
as for your mounts, just keep at it. like you say your getting better at it. and it can only get better from here on.
