Repeal I-594!
« on: April 25, 2017, 05:40:28 AM »
I received an email alert on I-594 yesterday and having read it quite thoroughly, I can't believe my eyes!  Myself and my wife are new to Washington, but both of us will be voting NO on I-594.  It's nothing more than a Statewide handgun registration scheme that will cost us millions and will end up labeling many, many legal firearm owners as criminals, and worst of all, it won't do anything to reduce the number of illegally owned firearm by criminals.  Please get out there and vote NO on this disastrous legislation!

https://www.voteno594.com/

Some details of how I-594 would drastically change the landscape of firearm owner rights in Washington:

DETAILS OF A DEEPLY FLAWED INITIATIVE

Initiative 594 is a universal handgun registration scheme being promoted by a very wealthy group of anti-gun elitists who have already raised more than $7 million to qualify and pass this initiative.  Although they describe it as a “universal background check” measure, it is not universal because criminals will never comply with the requirements.  It is, however, universal handgun registration. Under I-594, every time a handgun is transferred, the person receiving the handgun will have their name added to the government database being maintained by the state Department of Licensing.

Under I-594, every time a handgun is transferred, the person receiving the handgun will have their name added to the government database being maintained by the state Department of Licensing.

Virtually every firearm transfer - with very few and limited exceptions - would be required to go through a licensed firearms dealer under the provisions of I-594.

I-594 will specifically regulate transfers, not sales.  Under the language of I-594, in virtually all cases, a person merely handing his or her firearm to a family member or a friend cannot do so without brokering the transfer through a gun dealer with the accompanying fees, paperwork, taxes and, in the case of handguns, state registration.

I-594 also doubles the state waiting period on handgun sales from five to ten days and extends it to every private transfer of a handgun!

The only thing that I-594 would accomplish is the creation of a government record of all lawfully transferred handguns in Washington, which would facilitate their future confiscation.

EDIT: Sorry I wasn't more clear.  This is a bill to REPEAL I-594.  I support it the repeal; I-594 is ridiculous and I can't believe it ever passed in the first place!

Yesterday I got a call from the outside world but I said NO in thunder.
I was a dog on a short chain and now there’s no chain.

Yes -- this is a motion to REPEAL it.  Sorry I should have been clearer.

I think it was retained as a matter of routine procedure in the special session, for which likely only budgetary matters will be considered.

If you look at the original status, this never made it out of committee.

:yeah:

Every single bill that has been introduced and not yet passed was "reintroduced" in the special session.

The bill is dead.

C'mon NorCal (Washington) guys you know I-594 isn't going anywhere.   Next you'll follow your SoCal leaders and implement a lead ban followed by background checks to purchase ammo.  Better get organized because it's coming...

 :yeah:

As long as gun owners refuse to vote and Liberals(mostly Democrats)are supported by firearm owners, Olympia in just another Kalifornia wanta-be's!

Politics is one thing,  Stupidity is another!

You own a firearm, You voted for or supported a Democrat, YOU ARE part of the problem, NOT the solution!
