Elk Pics
« on: February 22, 2009, 06:01:53 PM »
I went to Oak Creek today, haven't been in about a month or so. No very many elk down there. Saw the 8x7 and a big 6x6. ONe old bull I think was about to die. I have a pic, but he just was laying there and not moving at all.
Heres the 8x7

Here is the bull I think is dying. He was laying like this when I got there. And he put his head up for a few seconds and then it just kinda dropped to the ground again. I couldn't see him breathing either. Sad to see such a nice bull go.

You captured some big boys there.  I used to stop in there at least once a year but haven't for some time.  Thanks for keeping me caught up :)  Do they let you pick up sheds there?

Someone posted a picture from there of a spotted calf.  Is it still running around there or has anyone seen it lately?

I was up there last weekend with the in-laws. Brother-in-law had never been there and wanted to show him before our great Gov. shuts the place down.Made a stop to see the sheep as well and counted 95 sheep. It was a good time aside from it snowing on us.

270-

did you see the cow that was missing the rear right leg below the knee?
God Bless,
Scott

I stand corrected its the rear left leg not right. Something tells me if it weren't for the feeding station that cow would not have survived the winter.
God Bless,
Scott

Actually there was one missing the right, and one missing the left. ;)  The one missing the right rear leg was in bad shape, possibly busted up hips, hobbled real bad.  the one missing the Left rear got around good.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

The one I saw gimped pretty bad.

Any thought as to what could have taken the legs. Trap, coyote, cougar, bear...?
God Bless,
Scott
