Willapa Harbor crab
« on: May 07, 2017, 10:57:56 AM »
Really new to crabbing off the boat. I've thrown pots off the docks at Westport. I have a boat now and the wife kid and I would love to put some Dungees on the deck. Guess the biggest question is what tides the best to go out and how long to let the pots soak. If there are any other tips and tricks I'd love to here them.

Don't know about willapa but an hour before and after slack is best.  Soak depends on what pots you fish but checking after 45 works to make sure you are in the crabs.

Razor clams and salmon carcs get them a runnin to your pots. Incoming tide always for me.
