Just a shout out to Bearpaw and the mods.....

Out of ignorance, it's easy (speaking for myself) to not understand what the risks and or consequences could be of what we would call fun.  I'm not talking of slandering a business for "fun", I mean to dance around the guidelines of what has been laid out.  I for one really appreciate this forum and this "community".  I apologize for any unneeded BS.  It would be interesting to know what the real rules and risks are with the owner of a forum.  Does the owner of Google or Facebook have risk for what is posted?  Also, in the event that a lawsuit came up for something as dumb as people voicing their comments on a person and Bearpaw was sued....... in all seriousness, I'll donate the first hour billed by an attorney.

P.S.  I'm still intimidated by Smachalope.  :chuckle:

Thank you.
Someone gets it.

He's only saying that because he's afraid of your left hook and reach advantage.  :chuckle:
He has 3 reach advantages.

Wow. :yike:
Have you met him? He's 6'14"

First time I met him all I could think is I'm inviting this guy elk hunting, pack mule for sure.  I don't know about 6'14" but 6'4" I would believe.

The forum already has the right to disclose your info. They don't need permission any further. I say bear paw just makes it known he will disclose info on any posts that attract a formal complaint legal or lawful action. They really don't need to post on the open forum for the mods to send the info to the plaintiff.

Precisely.

First names aren't enough for future reference. We'll need the full name.

You guys are kidding right? What is the plan for vetting? This may come as a shock but my real name isn't jay sharkbait.

You'll have to ask Dale. I'm pretty sure he's not kidding. If you plan to slander a business or a person, be prepared to take responsibility for it. Why would Dale or the forum be responsible for your actions?
For the sake of reinforcement, when you all signed up as members of the forum, you agreed to some things and stuff.

Key words formal, legal and lawful and I don't think it allows huntwa to post it publicly.

How's about just be responsible for what you post. Don't be a jerk, and don't put the owner of the forum at risk for your actions?
What's wrong with that? It's a simple request.

Please re-read my post and your red highlights

Maybe I'm missing something, but the stuff in red seems to say to me that if Hunt-WA gets threatened with a lawsuit over something you post on here, Hunt-WA can reveal your identity to whoever. Correct me if I'm wrong.
But aside from all that, really, what's so hard to understand? Don't say stuff that will put the forum in jeopardy. If you decide to, man up and post your identity. Take responsibility for your action!

I was just looking for clarification. I'm ok with that information being released due to formal complaint or legal action. I am not ok with that info being released in ANY open forum.

It should be noted that all outfitters suck when individuals are in a situation to have to compete with them in the woods.

They do it for a living.

Most others do it for a hobby.

Well now that we got all that out of the way.  Back to the original post.  I can understand your frustration with someone buying the land, but it was for sale to anyone that wanted to pay the price.  I have overpaid for property next to me because I didn't want to have to deal with a problematic neighbor.

My guess is knowing what you know now it may have been better to overpay for this piece of property and control who uses it versus having someone else overpay for it and you have no control.

What did he overpay?  $200 an acre/$60,000?  Over the next 20 years that is $3,000 too much per year.  Is it worth $250 a month to not have to deal with this outfitter?  To me it would be.

A piece of land is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it and they aren't making any more land.

For some individuals who fancy themselves a some kind of modern day Sampson by making a habit of beating their chest while hiding in the shadows and sniping at others, I can understand how any threat of losing anonymity in ANY open forum to them would be akin to Sampson losing his hair.

He paid roughly $1k an acre if he bought it. I don't know for sure if he bought it or leased it.

He can sue all he wants, it will never hold in court. Simple.

Speaking in general terms:
A Litigation Bully, uses litigation (or the threat of) to get what they want.  It costs a lot of money to defend oneself even if the outcome is all but certain.  So no, it won't likely hold in court, but getting to that point is costly and extremely stressful to the victim.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing some law to give victims of litigious bully's some legal means of counter suing. If someone is going to mount a lawsuit to "bully" someone they should have some more skin in the game.

What are they going for?  I know by me the assessed value is $625 per acre and depending on the land they are selling for $2,000 an acre.  Those are 20 acre lots.  I would imagine that larger acreage the cost per acre goes down a bit.
