Tuna
« on: July 20, 2017, 02:58:46 PM »
Had a great trip with Mark Youngblood yesterday. The fish were slow and we definitely screwed up on a few ! Great Captain and we will be back for sure. Mark worked hard to get us on fish all day.

We only ended up with 9 more than other boats that day everyone was having a hard time. I think we were a few days early.

This. There has been a quick morning bite then the fish are going down for whatever reason and returning for a late afternoon feast. Boat plugging bait stops are not the norm this year but things can change anytime. 10 fish days seems to be the average for sporties and 6 packs.

We put 12 in the boat Saturday.  No big bait stops, just 1-3 chances, and then singles on the troll.  Talk on the radio didn't sound promising either.
Overall it didn't seem like there were a ton of fish around.  The good news was the fish were all big.

Just a word of advice, do not book a tuna trip with me. Last year tuna was great, but then a storm blew them out and it was pretty much over. Our boat got one, I didn't catch it. This year, storm made the water too rough, not going to make it out. Again, do not book a tuna trip with me. Wouldn't be a big deal, but drove out from Colorado Springs both times to go tuna fishing so not like I can just go another week.
