The best diesel truck is the one that's paid for...

I look at the price of a new one and I'm oh hell no!  No way I am pay $50,000+ or more for a fricken vehicle.

  I saw a sticker price of $72,000.00 the other day. On a Dodge none the less! I wouldn't pay more than the cost of a decent cheeseburger for a Dodge. Not even because the mirrors go from pull mode to super pull mode.

Our Ford broke down in the middle of an intersection. Tow truck driver said 90% of the diesel trucks he tows are Ford and 10% are Chevys... So we traded in the Ford for a Ram never happier.

Seems like most people go Dodge for the Cummins engine or Chevy for the Allison transmission, unless they're "Ford Guys" then they just pick a color.

Thanks for creating this entertaining thread, I've really enjoyed it.

 Between myself, my dad and my hunting buddy we all drive one of the big 3. All of us are also extremely happy with our choice. When I bought mine I was looking for the best deal  I could find, didn't care about the make. The only Ford I would look at was the 6.7. I ended up buying a Chevy and could not be happier. Just be sure to check them all out and try not to be brand loyal. Be sure to check out the Ford passenger floorboard. If I'm not mistaken, there is a lot lot less foot room compared to the Dodge and Chevy.

I always take advice from the Tow Truck guy when it comes to spending 70K on a truck. I bet you he was a Dodge guy like the other Dodge guys on the forum who say only Fords break down and they've never had a problem with their Dodge. hahalol... Go to the Ford Forum and tell them you're ready to buy a Dodge. You'll get tow truck driver advice.

If a Dodge mechanic tells you Dodges are the best, I'd be asking him how he has a job?  Then, you get to make the old, "well, no mechanic just changes oil"... hahahaa

  Having a Dodge, I still make fun of guys who run around with their tow mirrors out when not pulling.  Keep those things folded down!  Hell, even with most trailers you don't need them out.  I saw a meme the other day that said the moose migration was happening and it was a bunch of Dodge owners with their tow mirrors out going down the freeway. 

And deals can be had.  Do you homework.  I bought mine from Montana.  Everyone around here wanted about $50k for the same truck.  I picked mine up from a head mechanic at a dealership over there for $37k with all of the maintenance records and history.  If you don't mind traveling out of state, you'll save yourself some money.   I've since dumped some money in it, but I'm fine with it.

  I had an '08 F-350, super nice, great truck. The 4th time we had the cab taken off for warranty repairs, I traded it in on a Dodge. Those bolts that hold the cab on are expensive. The AC needs to be evacuated and recharged each time. I just saw the writing on the wall and knew it was going to be a money pit.

I work for a Ford service department and my pay plan is commission based solely off the repair work I sell. Last year I made more money than I ever have before.
