Are all H&R singles equal? I see the newer ones have a transfer bar safety whatever that is? Just curious if that's something to consider.

Not they are not. Just like most anything else 1 outa 10 made are worth a damn and shoot straight. You have a better chance of finding a good one if pre-84 :twocents:

Good question. Maybe even pre-94  :dunno:. Older the better

Henry has just introduced a single shot shotgun in 12, 20, and 410.  I think they will run maybe $350.  I am thinking of picking one up when I see one in person.  They look nice but may be more then you want to pay.

They're owned by Remington but still producing H&R.

I know a guy that has an H&R/NEF 20ga single shot that is about to be put up for sale.  Vintage '92 (full quarter century) serial number with hand cut checkering and a serious pedigree for grouse.  I may pick it up myself.

My brothers and myself were taught to shoot with a single shot 16 gauge shot gun my father passed away 2 years ago we still have that gun was bought in the fifties i believe it was bought from wards in kellogg Ida. still like 16 gauges
