Boneaddict,

glad to see your success. It appears I was over the ridge from you...on the north shore of Lake Chelan. I saw some nice ones, and yup...the big ones are starting to rut. I drew the multi-season tag and hit it on Friday, last day of muzzleloader season. Then picked up my rifle on Sat. Anyway, I had some opportunities but didn't connect, mostly due to the fact that I really want to get a nice blacktail with my recurve (I don't have the kahunas to use it during the modern season...yet)

Not to highjack the thread, but hey blacktail 135,  I will send you a PM with the details of what I saw and the conditions, but lets just say, you're gonna have a great hunt and don't sweat it too much, there just starting into the rut...the ladies aren't close yet.

thanks guys.....hey Clark, I'm trying, what works a little better than luck is research, I'll try to get you pointed in the right direction.
Grade.....yep, its good to be out there.  Better pic up that bow.  It will make you try harder and you'll be postin pics of a monster on here.
Blacktail.....I wouldn't worry, in fact this just means that you will have better luck than normal.  usually they just aren't into it until that season is almost over.  NOT the case this year.  I would say heck with elk though, and be out there everyday for that permit.

Just signed up on here and this story impressed me alot.  Great job on the hunt bone!  Your story reminds me of the way I used to hunt with my dad.  7 hour hike has gotta be a butt buster there.  Look forward to reading more of your stories and advise.

Thanks Billy, especially a butt buster whenyou shoot a big one back there.  Thats a long ways to make multiple trips.  I miss my Dad's mule .....well sometimes :beatdeadhorse: I'd probably still be up there trying to load him though. :chuckle:  Hopefully we'll have one more big buck story for he year with my Dad and his tag.

Grats on the buck, nice pics and good story...except for the lousy poacher! I hope at least he went to get it, or it fed a bear for a bit. Anyway, grats! Looked fun and that fire looked nice and toasty.

Cheers,

Saylean
