Gmu 204 advice?
« on: October 04, 2017, 08:52:57 PM »
Just got access to private property in GMU 204!!  :IBCOOL:

The area is south of wauconda and east of tonasket (tonasket address)

Anyone who has been to this area before have any advice?
Any particular areas to look for?

I feel like I hit the jackpot by getting this access so hopefully I hit the big one again and me and my father in law each get our first deer  :)

Although we'd be happy with just one of us getting one  :hello:

204 is a huge unit. I lived near there ( CURLEW ) for 17 years. DO NOT get stuck on staying on your private land hunting the whole time. How big is the piece ? When is your hunt and what type of weapon ?
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

The guy specifically mentioned that he normally ventures off his property up towards the national forest just about all the way to highway 20.
His family specifically has 120 acres but said that all his neighbors to the north up to the forest are ok with us hunting there and we can access the national forest though his property.
I'm going the 25th for 2 days with a rifle (savage .308)

Make sure and talk to all the other land owners that are "ok" with you hunting their property. It might be ok but all it takes is one to ruin your weekend.

There is some awesome country up there and with the Tunk block fires in 2015 there's bound to be some nice deer in there!

Good luck, I hope you guys connect!

Hunted that area for archery season. The whitetails already went nocturnal so we only caught glimpses of them right at last light. There are some muleys running around up high. Lots of bears this year.

Just because the landowner crosses his neighbors property, doesn't mean you can. ASK, just like what was mentioned. People up there are pretty protective of their land and hate trespassers. I know because I was one of them. Anyhow. If you can get into hard to get to land, you might have a chance, weather depending. 2 days is pretty short. Best of luck. Are you going in on Mt. Anne rd or Cape LaBelle ?

There are some rocky cliff type terrain in the draws going in. I've seen some big boys go down into that stuff. I don't remember how far in though.
