Got the Palouse whitetail tag, will be over there November 13-19. Going to be pretty fun for my first time hunting whitetails and rattling a bit!

Pulled out some Mule deer sheds. Going to give rattling a try this coming weekend for some whitetails. Snow is already on the ground so some pre rut action should be kicking in.

Hey Jeff, have you ever put out a buck/doe decoy 10 or 20 yrds off to the side of you while rattling? Just wondering if a visual aid might help bring them in. I know on public land you have to be real careful when using decoys. Thanks for any insight.

No but I'd love to! The areas I hunt are too far in and steep to pack a decoy however. I saw on a video somewhere of a dude wearing a deer hat with ears stalking a buck during archery season. That could be interesting but probably not very smart during rifle season.

I have a pair of the Montana decoys "The Dream Team" buck and doe. They weigh less than 5 lbs with the stakes. I'll give it a shot and let you know what kind of response we get. Thanks again for your help!

I'm going to try rattling for my first time this year but I don't have any antlers big enough for rattling besides whats mounted on my wall. Any suggestions on store bought rattling setups?

Cut the ones off your mounted deer. :chuckle:

If you were closer I would let you borrow some. Do you know anyone that found some sheds this year? Soak those in water and use them...  :dunno:

I'm heading to Kettle Falls area the 15th-19th. Never hunted the late hunt in the NE corner but have done that same time frame in North Idaho. I'll be pulling out the rattling antlers again this year, hopefully the timing is right for this area.
