Calendar Reject (buck is dead)
« on: December 02, 2017, 07:44:42 AM »
This one didnt make final selection.   He wasnt big enough  ......Kidding!   I got a ton of images of this guy and this was one of them.   I liked the scene with him, but felt the rock was too distracting from the buck.   I dont know.....choices.
@PlateauNDN  you asked for him

I agree, the blurry rock doesn't look good. It takes up about 40% of the picture.

Besides the deer I love the colors of the rock he's standing behind as well as the color of the sky. What time of day?

 And I'm always a sucker for any shot with sagebrush in it

About 1300 hrs.    He was bedded when I was stalking him (thinking he was another big buck), They were getting up and stretching about 1ish. I was at about 30 yards when he finally stood up and stretched and the doe got up to feed.   He was bedded by this rock with a single doe at the time.  There were two other bucks and a few doe in the area.   The younger bucks started fighting, which is what got his attention here.  There were intermittent showers and clouds, so it helped with the sun.  I "shot" him up for some time, before abandoning him to look for the other buck. (rookie mistake) I took my Sitka vest off which had my spare battery and photocard in the pocket, and put on my rain jacket because of the weather.  The vest was sitting back at my truck.    I had to ration .....
