Melt 1 pound butter in sauce pan
Add 1 pound light brown sugar and 1/4 cup powdered sugar, keep heat fairly low until sugar is well melted/blended with butter
Add in approximately 1.5 quarts of good vanilla ice cream (aprox. cause several spoonful's  usually end up in my mouth  :chuckle:) keep heat low until ice cream is all melted. That's it!
Refrigerate after cooled.

I usually add 2-3 heaping tablespoons of mix to boiling water in a large coffee cup, then add rum to your liking, top off with ground nutmeg sprinkled on top.

Man that sounds mouth watering, my son loves eggnog, I’m going to make him some. Ice cream, never would have thought that as an ingredient.

Thanks

I would love to have more of these during the Holidays, but I will have to settle for a frosty mug of Olympia...or a Pendleton & Coke

At our inn in NH we had a very popular, killer drink called a broken leg - hot cider, Mt. Gay rum, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a lemon twist.

I'm a big fan of hot cider with Crown, or hot chocolate with spiced rum.

I had a sore throat the other night and made a couple hot toddies with Honey Jack, a tbls of local honey, a little splash of lemon juice and hot cider. Man that was a tasty beverage!

I make a cranberry/orange shine (no Everclear here) that is a big hit with the friends and family. I temper it down to 40 proof for drinking straight or to 80 for mixing.

Bourbon and 7 for me probably. I always kind of liked bourbon but over the past couple months I have really begun to love it. Bought a couple low-mid end bottles. Elijah Craig, Russles small bath, and a few others that have been delicious.

Shot or two of peppermint schnapps in a cup of hot chocolate. Also, Sleigh'r by Ninkasi Brewing. Awesome seasonal beer.

Piano, I'll have to try the "broken leg" (drink, not condition!). Sounds awesome.

Sorry DoubleJ but IMHO everclear is just plain bad...yeah the alcohol content is extreme but the taste is just nasty.  i (along with some others on the site) make our own and the taste is way better-even the higher proof stuff.  i can make 184 proof ( i think everclear is 190) and use it in apple pie but the peach pie i make with it is divine.  if you're ever in the area hit me up and i'll give you a quart of it..its a little hot to drink straight or use in eggnog or the like but if you proof it down to about 100 and use it for mixed drinks its dang good...Merry Christmas !

:yeah:
All the difference in the world!!  The only way to make Everclear drinkable in any form is to re-distill it at least twice!  A good, neutral sugar shine is the best way to go for making flavored stuff like apple pie.  If you have to use Everclear run it through a Brita filter a half dozen times or through activated charcoal to get the nasties out!
