I know! I can't stand them on a dedicated rifle but you swayed me towards them for testing wildcats due to the fact I can spin a barrel up in a couple of minutes instead of all the trips to the gunsmith swapping out and chambering barrels on my Rem700's.

I'm giving it some serious thought. It's all as simple as it gets. The only guys that complicate it are the guys getting paid to fit a barrel. It's like throwing a AR together, a monkey can do it.

Thanks for sharing this. My 300 wm will most likely need a new barrel this fall

i know, and i can't see what the big deal is?  when i was less knowledgeable about firearms i never even noticed that there was a nut on them.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Personally, I hate how they look but they do make a lot of sense and they obviously work well.  I once said no way in he11 would I ever own a gun with a fugly barrel nut but I'd be lying if I didn't admit I've considered doing one on a Remington 700.  It'd sure make things a lot easier, that's for sure.

ruger americans use a barrel nut too which is pretty similar to a bugnut which allows you to use 1.2 or 1.25 shank barrels without having to turn down the shank. I never knew the ruger american used a nut til i pulled it apart.
