Best resource for starting rifle reloading
«

Hi all,
I own a Dillon 550B progressive reloader, and have loaded MANY thousands of pistol rounds of many calibers.
In quest to "roll my own" 308 deer and elk loads, I am getting ready to buy the dies for .308WIN
I understand there are quite a few differences in reloading rifle ammo, and it seems a bit daunting.
Can anyone recommend a book or resource so that I can learn how to build accurate loads with my machine? I really want to start shooting my Ruger American more in anticipation of this years season and want to dial in a good load before then.
Thanks for any info!

Many reloading manuals (i.e. Nosler) have good reloading process information. Sinclair International has very helpful "how to" information on their website.
There are many "advanced" procedures and benchrest methods that result in extreme precision. For hunting ammo my advise is to not be distracted by all of the information overload. Keep it simple but use good components and practice absolute consistency in everything you do.

YouTube can be bad if you don't know what's bs and what's not. Sounds like you have some expirence. One thing I can tell you is the Dillion may end up not being your best bet. Rifle powders don't meter very well. I would buy a single stage press and weight out each charge. Get a feel for loading bottle necks and then maybe work in to the Dillion.

I have Berger and Hornady Manuels. Fairly easy to understand since you already reload.

I guess I should of said internet,YouTube ,etc has a wealth of info.Go to any powder website, hodgdon, accurate, ect, look up load data for the powder your useing .You don't have to buy 10 reloading manuals ,to be able to reload.yes there is a lot of bad YouTube's , but also just as many good ones also.
Here's a few links to reload data I use a lot.
