Skagit spring bear
« on: March 18, 2018, 07:18:57 AM »
I drew the Skagit tag - so time to start doing a bit of home work. Will they be contacting me and telling me where I’ll be allowed to go? Access pretty good with the tree companies? Any info would be great from any of you guys that have had this tag before. I’m gonna be able to put quite abit of time into this tag and really looking forward to it!
Thanks for any advice

There will be early action in the southwest and northwest then throughout as the snow melts up high. You will get a packet. You will have combo access.

You'll get a packet in the mail with a mandatory meeting date and time. Have your questions ready for the meeting. They are pretty good about providing a lot of information there. They will also give you a map letting you know what gates will be open. Have fun, its a good tag to have. Congrats

Congratulations on the hunt draw !   Hunted it last year and there is plenty of access and land to go around.

Got my packet in the mail yesterday.  The meeting is scheduled for the youth turkey opener.   :dunno:  Hopefully I can pick it up the materials in person before then.

Should be a good year. With all the snow the season will probably start fairly slow but by the middle of May  :yike: !!!!

I talked with the bio and he drove the area recently and didn't see any activity yet.  I'm likely not going to hit it hard for a while, no sense to burn all my gas and time before they are up and active.  I'm certainly glad the season isn't just a week.

It took me 21 trips in that area before I finally got my bear.  Definitely save it for May, they will be more active.

Anyone been in yet? Any sign?

I haven't had a free weekend to check things out but bears should be getting more visible.

Been out twice.  Not a single peel or a pile of skat yet.  Should be anytime.  Most of the green is all down low.
