Do groups really push for change?

I just reviewed the comments people left for the 2018-2020 seasons and out of curiosity I pulled out a magazine and checked to see how many board members left a comment. I was kind of surprised to only see one name but to be fair I just scrolled through so I may have missed some.

Do you guys feel it’s fair to expect that all the members mentioned on the first page of the magazine should take the time to leave a comment that is inline with what the group stands for? Especially if it affects rule changes to what the group was formed to protect?

I would like to thank the one member who did leave a comment as it was inline with what I would expect from my donation. I would also like to thank the rest of you who took time to give your opinion.

They sure do look at that Defenders of Wildlife that get all kinds of krap changed because bleeding hearts contribute to their cause.

I looked at the Washington State Bowhunters. My thoughts is that they would have all been  onboard when it comes to the state trying to cut cow hunting in the Yakima herd however I only seen one of them comment on the topics. For that individual both him and his wife commented so I’m curious as to why the whole board didn’t offer a comment on the purposed rule change.

Possibilities:    The members and leaders feel there voice is heard as a whole in communication to the department by the group?

Or,  If they agree with the proposal, they may not feel the need to say anything and that it's only for those who disagree with the proposal?

I believe both are quite common reactions.

Depends on the group, sometimes they may not agree with the group's position, the group may not have an official position, not everyone may be authorized to speak on behalf of the group or they may have sent in comments through another channel.

I think when it comes to the new rules for hunting even if you agree with the change it is good to speak up and get your voice heard. Typically the comments are taken as a whole and put into a table to gauge the support for or against and then a decision is made.

I know the WSB’s have a seat at the GMAC and they speak up there for the bow hunter but isn’t it important to get your voice heard on as many venues as possible?  Or is this just proof that it doesn’t matter when you or I fill out for the public comment form as the real decision is actually made behind closed doors?

Carbon Hunter, yes, I was  the only board members that wrote a letter in that venue but we also had 4 WSB board members make the trip to the WDFW meeting in Wenatchee .  The board member that works with the GMAC has been working tirelessly on this issue trying to get the proposal reversed along with a few other board members. WSB has been putting up a fight, it just hasn't been real obvious. It was kind of disappointing that there were only 6 or 7 bowhunters that showed up for the March meeting in Wenatchee when the proposals will effect about 3000 of them. Thanks for being a member.
