Gutpile.......Great buck...and 1st to boot.  Very nice....love the pose.  Gotta tell ya though that avatar of yours is spooky...lol

Spooky?? I think she's pretty.  :chuckle:

Thanks, by the way. I was pretty excited about it. I think I was 27-8. I grew up hunting birds and didn't start after big game till mid 20's

My first was a four point. We had to stop at a game check point on our what home. The biologist asked if they could cut back the mouth to check the age. I had no intentions of mounting it so I let them cut it open. It was a 1 1/2 year old buck. 4 points with a 12" spread. Too bad I didn't come across him at age 5(not to mention taking him out of the gene pool.)

A choice for mine isn't on here.  The choices go directly from "doe" to "spike".  My first deer was a Whitetail button buck.  Not a spike by any means, as there were just these tiny nubbins poppin' thru the scalp.

My first was a doe taken in '08 with a 35 Rem Contender pistol. It took me like 11 years to get that first deer, but it was well worth it. It's been some of the best venison I've ever had. In fact I have a roast in the slow cooker right now.

Mine was a 1X2 in 1958, used a 30-40 Krag, but I selected spike because 1X2 wasn't a choice

My first deer had one antler busted off at the skull and the other side was busted off just above a nice browtine.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

1st deer was a forky with a bow just up above Edelweiss and Mazama. Shot at about 8 yards when I was 13.

First deer was a WI whitetail spike when I was 12.  I had a bonus doe tag also.  Thought the buck was a doe, picked the bigger deer of two, dropped in its tracks at 60 yards, bead sight 20 ga slug.  Turned out to be an older deer with a small rack.

Tradition in deer camp was first one to get a deer bought the first round of drinks.....  State law in WI allows minors to drink with parent permission in a bar.  I bought the rounds!  ;)
