Poached Nanum Bull
« on: September 03, 2018, 10:52:19 AM »
Worse than wolves! Coming out of Cook Canyon last night near the bottom we came across a bull elk in the ditch, cut in half and missing it's head. >:(   This is frustrating on so many levels...

Took a picture, called it in to Fish and Game. Cant seem to get the picture to post.

Could have been claimed roadkill. Either way nice work on documenting it and reporting, poaching can’t be tolerated.

According to one of the locals who checked me out doing photography last year, the archery hunters are hell poachers in that area.   14 bucks were taken illegally at the bottom of an naneum just last  bow season.   They caught one guy by sitting on his kill and waiting for him to return for it.

Got to take the whole animal if you get it on a salvage  permit.

Thanks for calling it in. Hope they get caught and are prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law.

Looked at it coming in yesterday. What a shame. Piss ant punks are to stupid to know how to take an animal legally.

It happened last Sunday night or early Monday morning. It wasn’t there when I went up but it was Monday morning. It was cut in half with the guts in the ditch. Definitely a bull. There was a piece of bloody black plastic next to it almost like a vehicle hit it but on that corner I have a hard time believing somebody would be going fast enough to hit and kill an elk with a vehicle. Not an once of meat taken. I texted it in to wdfw that day too.

I called it on Thursday. I have a picture where you can see what looks like a bullet hole in the shoulder. Another odd thing is the 6 legs at the scene. Any thoughts on that? I'll post the pictures later tonight.

I'm glaf WDFW left it there or this thread would have ended long ago and all would be forgotten. I hope it pisses enough guys off that maybe someone will start talking. Why is everything WDFW's fault?
