Tundra VRS F-150- Need a new truck.

I have a 2014 longbed 5.7 tundra. I get 16.2 mpg and love the truck. Such a smooth ride and loads of power.

I love my tundra.  It's been a great truck.  With that said, I'd go f150 between the two options.  Those little barbie beds are pointless for my uses and a crew can is a must with kids (my tundra is a quad cab ).  Let'snot even talk about comparing mileage

Just think positive, after the warranty runs out you will have two turbos that at some point one or both will need to be replaced. What are those going to cost? I do like the sounds of the longer bed though, but not enough to want to buy a ford.

I’ve replaced 2. In 6 years.

Honestly I don’t think you can really go wrong with either truck. Steer clear of the dodge 1500’s. We have upgraded our older company trucks to the Dodges 1500 and all of ours have been in to the stealership for recalls more times than I can remember. I miss my old 07 Megacab with the 5.9.

Yes. They’ll fall under the 5yr/60k mile factory powertrain warranty.

And I agree with everything you’re saying.

We have replaced a couple of coolant pipes that go to the turbos. I think they’re not covered after 3/36 and not cheap. Some of the earlier 3.5 ecoboost are getting some miles on them now.

I had a 2005 Tundra and I had my share of recalls and whatnots but overall it was a good truck. Never had an engine problems to speak of. I did have to replace some wheel bearings but that was about it.

I would not mind looking into another 2005 tundra but now that I am forced to look for a new truck i figured i should get one that is better suited to tow my trailer.

it is all opinion, Jackelope Knows they all break. that said, if it were me , since you ask my opinion My last Ford pickup was a 1998, I loved it, I did not like the Triton motor change, and I do not like a boosted gas motor in a truck. I also do not like the aluminum. I would buy a Tundra any time over a Ford. I may, I have read that Tundra is going to get a redesign very soon.

No frame or bed rust on any of my Toyota trucks that I have had. Been driving a Toyota truck since 1994. My last Tundra did have a recall out for potential frame rust. Took it into the stealership and it checked out with no issue. Imagine that no rust. There's a reason Toyota trucks have a great reputation for reliability and their resale value is as good as it gets. If they were junk then they woudn't be so highly regarded.

I have an 08 tundra, same drive train as the new ones. 5.7l and 4x4, I get 15mpg ave with 17 on the highway unloaded. It's been a great truck, about 150k on it now. No rust issues. The MPG is my only complaint. They've been using the same drive train for over 10 years now, I expect that to change soon.

Go drive them all. If I didn’t need a 3/4 ton, I’d have a tundra crew max in the driveway. I test drive it back to back with the f150 3.5 eco boost too.
