It could go either way.  I was a lurker on this site and not a member for years.  Finally saw a thread that I just had to make comment on and the flood gates opened.  Drawing this tag and coming on here to talk about it might be what gets him to post a ton.

I am hopeful that we get an update.  These special permits take a ton of effort and can be absolutely draining by the end of the hunt, especially if you don't fill the tag.  The last thing you want to do is jump on here and relive it.

I know I had a colockum archery bull tag last year and ate the tag.  It was a roller coaster ride right up to the last minute.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Some people just don't "get" how these things work.

I coach HS football and there is a site (just like this one) dedicated to coaching HS football. Every year a handful of coaches will show up out of nowhere and ask a question like, "Need help defending XYZ." Many coaches will bend over backwards to help the guy because we have all been there and the football coaching community (as a whole) is extremely helpful. All we ever want is a report back on how it went....8/10 times the poster is never heard from again.

I'm not Branson but did spend 7 days hunting the Quilomene tag this year.  My dad had the tag.  We saw lots of deer and two bigger bucks.  The older age class of bucks is nearly non-existent.  There are a few there but the vast majority are young.  We watched plenty of small, young bucks rutting.  We passed dozens of smaller  bucks.  Large herds of does had 2 or 3 points doing all the rutting with no large bucks to be found.  My dad saw 2 big bucks in the week plus he hunted but passed on a 3x4 the first hour of the first day and couldn't get a shot on the 2nd to last day.  Some big bucks are there but they are very few and far between.  It certainly was not even close to the hunt we've experienced in the past with that tag.

It was a fun hunt and it felt like we'd eventually find a great buck if we kept looking over all the groups of does we saw.  In the end, my dad shot a young buck on the last day so my kids (two 6 year old boys) could be part of a successful hunt.  They don't care about size and had blast.

Thanks for posting and wrapping that up.  I had that tag almost 20 years ago and I really didn't know how to hunt mule deer.  I've always wondered what the hunt it is like now.  Now I know.  Thanks again.
